The Wishing Tree

"Begin noticing and being careful about keeping your imagination free of thoughts that you do not wish to materialize. Instead, initiate a practice of filling your creative thoughts to overflow with ideas and wishes that you fully intend to manifest. Honor your imaginings regardless of others seeing them as crazy or impossible." -  Wayne Dyer

The Wishing Tree at Heartwood is a result of our love for spiritual gardening. Wishing Trees are an Irish shamanic tradition. Visitors are invited to tie a ribbon onto the branches while they set an intention or make a wish. The ribbons blow in the wind, sending our dreams to the spirit world. Eventually, the fabric will disintegrate and in time, the ribbon becomes so frail or faded it disappears or is carried away by nature's creatures or the wind. The natural fading of the ribbon over time (days, months or years depending on weather and the fabric) means the dream moves from our heat to the energetic plane..... destined to enrich the world as the gentle nature of our fondest, heartfelt desires blanket the atmosphere in invisible positive intention.

There are benches for those who want to stay awhile to meditate and absorb the positive energy of the wishing tree. Pause to journal here or consider what your deepest dream is at this stage in life may be. Tie a ribbon or two as an act of love and to manifest what you want most in the world.

The tree was created from a forgotten, unremarkable tree. It was groomed, cared for, and a crystal placed in the nook of the base. Lights, orchids, potted plants, a whimsical statue of a woman breathing in the spirit of dreams, and wind chimes adorned the tree to make it inviting, festive and inspirational. As more and more ribbons fill the tree, it becomes a monument to our collective desires for a better world.

So when you come to Heartwood don't forget to "tie one on!" May all your wishes come true.
