Nature to Nurture: Harnessing the spirit of the Great Outdoors through natural self-care products and a peaceful river paddle

Sunday, March 5, 10:00-4:00 with Becca Chamberlain and Rachel Bell

Nature is the ultimate therapeutic resource available to us, and through our discovery of its beauty and utility we can become more attuned to our own purest nature and inner wisdom. Join us in nurturing our inner spirit and caring for our bodies through the healing power of the natural world around us. This day will include the exploration of this healing power through the creation of natural self-care products, as well as the immersion in a gorgeous natural setting through the peaceful and meditative canoe paddle along the Manatee river. According to Native American legend, this specific stretch of the river we will experience, which divided the lands of the Calusa and Timicuan peoples, was named the Singing River due to the lovely music and melodious sounds coming mysteriously from the river during certain moons. As we take in the breathtaking scenery of this spiritually-charged waterway, we will be observing the practice of mindful reflection and deep connection to the earth's lush energy.

The first half of the day will be spent at the beautiful Heartwood Retreat Center for the preparation of the plant-based self-care products and an introduction to integrating mindfulness in nature and a sense of gratitude for self-affirmation and inner peace. These take-home products are healthy and handy essentials in any household to help keep us content and protected in the Great Outdoors. The second half of the day will be spent on the river, setting off from Ray's Canoe and Hideaway--just a few minute drive up the road from Heartwood. This paddling trip welcomes all levels of canoe experience as the river is wide, mellow, and inviting, encouraging the mindfulness practice of this retreat. It is advised to bring a towel, hat, and sun-protective clothing as we will be happily immersed in Mother Nature for 3-4 hours in the afternoon. This early springtime paddle should soothe and relax the mind and body with cooler temperatures and shady vegetation. Come join us for a day of reconnecting with our natural world and discovering our true selves.

Retreat Fee:  $75, which includes a healthy lunch, supplies and materials for take-home products, all the paddling and safety equipment needed, as well as guidance and instruction on and off the water.
